Frequently asked questions

I forgot my username — can you recover it?
Daily Quizly stores your username locally on your device. There's no email recovery, because we never collected your email. If you uninstalled and reinstalled, you'll need to pick a new username. Sorry about that — it's the trade-off for not asking you to sign up.

Can I change my username?
Not yet. We're planning this for a future update.

How does the daily reminder work?
You can turn it on from Profile → Appearance → Daily reminder. We'll fire one local notification at 9:00 AM each day. It runs entirely on your device — we don't have a push server.

My streak reset and I'm sad
Streaks reset if you miss a full day. Turn on the daily reminder so you never miss one.

How are scores calculated?
Each correct answer earns base points + a speed bonus. Streaks of 3, 5, and 10 in a row apply a multiplier. The faster you finish, the more points you keep.

How do I join my friend's group?
Tap Groups → Join a group → enter the 6-digit code your friend shared with you.

How do I delete my data?
Email us at the address above with your username. We'll wipe your scores from the leaderboard and any group memberships within 30 days. We never had your email, so there's nothing else to delete.

Why does the Reality TV category look like Bravo?
The category is inspired by the Bravo style of reality TV but is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Bravo, NBCUniversal, Peacock, or any television network. All trivia is original and based on publicly known facts about public figures.

Why are some Sports questions extra hard on Sundays?
Difficulty ramps Monday → Sunday. Sundays are intentionally expert-level. Mondays are warm-ups.

Reporting bad behavior in group chat
If you see inappropriate content in a group chat, email us with:
• Your username
• The group code
• A description of what was posted

We review reports within 48 hours and can remove messages or block accounts.

This Privacy Policy describes how the Daily Quizly mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles your information.

TL;DR
There is no email. There is no password. There is no analytics SDK. There are no ads. The only thing that identifies you is a username you pick yourself.

What we collect
When you use Daily Quizly, the following is stored on our servers:
• Username — a 3–20 character handle you choose. Required for leaderboards and groups.
• Game results — scores, accuracy, streak, time remaining, attempted category, date.
• Group memberships and group-chat messages — only within the private groups you join, visible to other members of those groups.
• A randomly generated user ID — internal, not personally identifying.

That's the entire list. We do NOT collect:
• Your email, real name, phone, or address
• Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA / GAID)
• Your precise or approximate location
• Your contacts, photos, microphone, or any sensor data
• Any third-party analytics, crash analytics, or attribution data

Local-only data
The following is stored on your device only and is never transmitted:
• Your dark-mode preference
• Your daily-reminder opt-in and chosen time
• Cached UI state

Notifications
If you opt into the daily reminder on the Home or Profile screen, the App schedules a local notification on your device. The reminder content ("60 seconds. 10 questions. Don't break your streak") is generated on-device and never leaves it. We do not run a push-notification server.

How we use what we collect
• Show your scores on global, weekly, daily, and group leaderboards (always under your chosen username).
• Compute and display your lifetime stats and 14-day accuracy chart in the Profile screen.
• Deliver group chat messages to other members of the same group.
• Generate the daily question set on the server (via the Anthropic Claude API). Your username and scores are NOT sent to Anthropic.

Children
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has used the App, contact us and we will delete the associated data.

Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. The only third parties involved are:
• Our hosting provider (operates the servers)
• Anthropic (generates trivia content from neutral prompts; receives no user data)

Data retention and deletion
You can request deletion of your username, scores, and chat messages by emailing [email protected] from any address along with your in-app username. Deletion is performed within 30 days.

Security
All data in transit is protected by HTTPS. Group chat messages are stored server-side in plain text (not end-to-end encrypted) — please do not share sensitive information in group chat.

If we make material changes to this policy, the effective date at the top will be updated. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.
